Everything’s Important

Everything you can remember is important. I cannot stress how important it is to be completely honest, tell the good, the bad and the ugly. We need to know the facts on the front end. If we know there’s a bad fact out there, that we can take steps to address that and get around that bad fact, as opposed to being surprised later on.

Questionaire

We have a questionnaire we send to our clients that’s approximately 150 questions. I’ve discovered that even after I’ve met with somebody once or twice, or talk to them on the phone a couple times; I still find out a couple of new tidbits from that questionnaire. It might only be two or three questions that give me new information that either wasn’t asked in the intake process or didn’t come up, or the client didn’t recall, or didn’t think it was important. It’s better for us to know, than to find out last minute at trial. Let’s say I’m talking about the client’s a good behavior and all of a sudden they have this other charge out there that I didn’t know about. It makes everybody look like an idiot.
