Most Times

Usually you will have a criminal court appearance within the first month of the arrest. It’s called your initial appearance. And all that happens there is you walk up and either you enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.

Your Plea

If you enter a plea guilty, the judge will send it to you right then and there, and things will continue to the sentencing phase and you will begin serving your sentence. However, if you enter a plea of not guilty, then they will assign you a trial date in the future, you will appear and have your trial. And the reason they do it in the future is because they have to summons the officer and any other witnesses they wish to call and give you an opportunity to decide.
